A small niche in the bedroom can be turned into a modest yet dashing walk-in closet with ease. This little space filled with shelves, drawers and cabinets can hold everything from your shoes and belts to dresses and accessories. Make use of the vertical space on offer and do not neglect the area behind the doors as well. In the tiny walk-in closet, a white backdrop or one in beige or lighter shades of gray presents a more organized visual; even if you are shooting for a modern-eclectic look.
Pastel pinks are a hit in the girls’ room irrespective of the season and current trends. But this summer they would make a great addition in the adult bedroom as well. You need not worry about pink pastels being a bit too feminine as balancing them with white, gray and other muted hues gives the bedroom a modern shabby chic vibe that is largely gender neutral. If you are worried about too much pink in the room, then start small with bedding, accent pillows or vases in pastel pink. Once you are comfortable with the hue, think about larger additions like a plush rug or accent wall covered in pastel pink power!
There’s nothing that brings elegance to your bedroom like an eye-catching headboard. If you take a DIY approach, you can get a decadent look on a budget. For example, creating a “headboard” by hanging curtains behind a platform bed will add height and interest to your space. You can also use wallpaper to create a faux headboard for your bed, adding just the right amount of drama! Another idea: using a folding partition (shown below). Details at Martha Stewart.
