Designing your dream bedroom can be taxing at times. There are all the things that you crave in terms of design, ergonomics and luxury. Then you want to create some space for maybe a workspace in the corner, a cool reading nook or even a lovely conversation zone that sits right next to the fireplace. But most importantly, we all want a bedroom that helps us relax, rejuvenate and makes things easier at the end of the day. An organized closet or wardrobe is an essential component in making this a reality. But what if you could take the simple closet in the corner and turn it into a walk-in closet that holds your entire wardrobe, fashion accessories, shoes, collection of bags and a whole lot more!
As you brainstorm DIY possibilities, don’t hesitate to get extra creative. Melamine shelving and fabric trim combine in the headboard below from Rosyscription, featured at Bob Vila: Even a well-positioned piece of artwork can provide the contrast and backing that’s needed to offset an inexpensive platform bed. Purchasing a painting that creates just the look you want will do wonders. On a tight budget? Create the artwork yourself!
Slide-out beds which otherwise can be hidden inside the elevated wooden platform are another popular choice as they help demarcate space between the living area and kitchen and dining even while concealing a bed within. If you have enough space for an additional bedroom, this slide-out bed can be used as guest sleeping area or even a play zone for kids. Once again, the emphasis here is on creating new pockets of space that multi-task with ease.
